Why location changes the job
Where you live in Ocala shapes the work in a few real ways. The first is who supplies your power. Inside much of the city, Ocala Electric Utility runs the lines and the meter. Outside its territory, parts of Marion County are served by Duke Energy Florida, SECO Energy or Clay Electric. The utility matters when a meter has to be pulled for a panel swap or a new service, so your electrician needs to know which one to call.
The second is who issues the permit. Work inside city limits goes through the City of Ocala Building Services office. Work in unincorporated Marion County goes through Marion County Building Safety. A good electrician knows which office covers your address before they quote the job.
The third is the age of the house. Homes near Fort King Street can date back more than a hundred years. Large parts of Silver Springs Shores and Marion Oaks were built from the 1970s on. Newer homes off SR 200 and in the northwest have modern panels but often need more capacity for EV chargers, pools, shops and barns.
Wherever you are, the visit works the same way: test first, explain the fix and price, then do the work to code. Read how a visit works.
